Learners First

Science and Sustainability

Learning in science stimulates student’s curiosity and sense of wonder about their world. Scientific inquiry is a central part of our science curriculum. Science enables students to observe, explore, predict, speculate, ask questions, test their theories and conduct their own investigations. Students learn to plan and conduct investigations, collect and analyse evidence and communicate their findings. Our curriculum encompasses:

  • Science understanding:
  • Biological sciences
  • Chemical sciences
  • Earth and space sciences
  • Physical sciences
  • Science as a human endeavour
  • Science inquiry skills

A major focus of our science program and other curriculum areas is sustainability. We have a strong tradition of using sustainable practices and educating our students about sustainable living, from Kindergarten to year 6.  A committed school Eco-Team of Year 3, 4, 5 and 6 students develop leadership skills through their participation and promotion of sustainability values. We have an established garden, greenhouse and purpose built kitchen where students can experience the benefits of the ‘seed to plate’ concept and enjoy eating what they have grown.
